Happy Halloween! Nails for a Cleopatra costume

I got a Cleopatra costume for Halloween. I’m not sure if I want to wear it, but I still have this manicure if I decide to wear it. This is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Golden-I and Migi pens. I just discovered these nail art pens and I’m a huge fan!

Subtle Coral and Gold

I’ve been looking for a gold stamping polish so I got Sally Hansen Golden-I since it was reasonably priced. It’s a nice polish and worked perfectly for this manicure, but not as opaque as I’d like for a stamping polish. Still, I love how subtle this is. The base is Julep Sasha. Plates are: Cheeky CH 37 (thumb), Bundle Monster BM 323 (index), Bundle Monster BM 312 (middle), Bundle Monster BM 310 (ring), Bundle Monster BM 317 (pinky). There’s a flaming basketball stamp on BM 312. I absolutely need to use this!

Red and gold

Some quick pics of what I had on today. The red is Speciallita Hits No Olimpo in Ares and the gold is Jade Mystic Gold. The stamp was Cheeky plate CH 37 from the summer collection (love the packaging!) using Essie Scarlett O’Hara.

I usually try to not wear red when I’m working during the week, but sometimes I can’t help it. My patient commented on my nails, so much for being subtle!
I’m almost making progress on growing out my nails a bit. I’ve been using Mavala Scientifique nail hardener to help prevent my nails from peeling like they always do. I’ll keep you updated about how it works, it’s only been a week.

Breast cancer awareness nails

If the NFL can support breast cancer awareness, I can too! Sorry my cuticles are looking rough today, I better put on some lotion. This is Essie Miami Nice and Konad special polish for the stamping. Stamp is Bundle Monster BM321.

I’m on oncology for my internal medicine rotation in a month, so something similar might make a comeback. Gotta support the girls 😀

Pink, glitter, bows, and black

I have a love affair with black nail polish. I have far too many shades of black nail polish, and I seem to keep collecting more!

I used A England Bridal Veil over a base coat for this manicure. This is the first A England nail polish I’ve used and I really like it. This picture was taken using 2 coats, but I could have gotten away with one. It applies really nicely and has a good consistency.

I sponged Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Strobe Light on the tips. I have this nail polish stocked up (along with China Glaze Ruby Pumps!) just in case it’s ever discontinued, I’m sure you’ll be seeing it again. The little bow motif was from Konad plate m62. Hope you like it!

By the way, I really need an orange polish for Halloween. Any recommendations?

End of summer stripes

So maybe summer technically ended a while ago, it’s still pretty hot in most of Texas. However, we’ve had a couple of chilly days recently, so I’m finally thinking about fall. This was my attempt to transition between summer and fall. I used Julep Toni as the base color. This color has really grown on me. It’s a wearable grey/purple color. The stripes are with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lightening and Julep Sasha.

I really love the colors of the Julep polishes I have, but I find them really difficult to wear. The first layer is really streaky and it takes a long time to dry. Maybe it’s just the colors that I own that are difficult. Anyone have any opinions about this brand?

Greek inspired stamping art

This stamping plate (Bundle Monster BM 321) reminded me of a motif from ancient Greece. I ended up going with blue (Ibiza by Zoya) over gold (Mystic Gold by Jade). I topped it off with a matte topcoat (Matte Finish Topcoat by Butter London). I think I would have preferred a white base with a gold stamp. The problem is that I don’t have a good gold nail polish to stamp with. Does anyone have any recommendations?
